I remember at 8 years old, traveling across the country with my dad to every state but one as he preached about living with purpose and this idea that young people are amazing and God can do great things with your life. Then I would get on stage and tell the story of how I almost died three times before I was three years old, how I believed my life had a purpose. My dad was my hero in every way.
My life in ministry has always been about a father-son relationship. Watching what my dad modeled to me over the years, and then encountering God for myself, led me to truly understand the extraordinary love of a father. When Chelsea and I took over the church from my parents in 2009, shortly before my dad passed away, I knew I wanted more people to feel this outrageous Father’s love like I had. It has become the core of who we are as a church. You are loved and you belong, just as you are.
